This rug was woven by a group of artisans who reside in a village just outside of Beni M'rirt which is located within the Middle Atlas Mountains.
The traditional Beni M’rirt rug contains a thick knot which allows for their rugs to feel extra plush.
Made up of 100% wool and natural dyes, the blue wool used for the design accents was dyed using a unique dyeing technique. Utilizing a blend of florals & spices the women dyed this wool in bunches which allows for various blue hues to appear throughout the weave.
This design feels modern, although it represents thousands of years of artistic tradition.
